City to pick up Christmas trees

Fort Scott's Public Works Department will be picking up discarded Christmas trees at no charge for residents again this year.

Pickup dates are Friday, Dec. 30, Friday, Jan. 6, Friday, Jan. 13, and Friday, Jan. 20.

The public works department asks that residents place trees at the curbside off the street and call City Hall at (620) 223-0550 with their address and name to schedule the pickup.

Discarded trees will be used to enhance fish and wildlife habitat in the city-owned water structure properties, a news release said.
