Commission sets budget hearing
Bourbon County Commissioners will host a public hearing on amending the 2011 budget during their regular meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 30.
Bourbon County Clerk Joanne Long said commissioners will hear comments and concerns from the public regarding an amendment which would increase the expenditure of the employee benefit fund from $2,034,200 to $2,135,460 and increase the expenditures in the road and bridge fund from $1,880,794 to $2,225,000.
Long said there was cash available in the budget to cover the expenditures and that the amendment is needed by the end of the calendar year to avoid any budget violations.
She said the expenditures came in over what was budgeted, largely due to the rising cost of employee benefits and fuel. Long added the county did replace some equipment which led to the increase in the road and bridge fund. The hearing will be held in the commission room on the second floor of the Bourbon County Courthouse, 210 S. National Ave.
