Adelene Edna Burch, 90, a resident of Redfield, Kan., died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the Fort Scott Manor in Fort Scott, Kan. She was born March 24, 1921, in Girard, Kan., the daughter of Harry Sandwith and Margaret Davidson Sandwith.

She first married Clarence "Don" Rall. He preceded her in death. She later married Gordon Warner, and he, too, preceded her in death. She then married John A. Burch on Sept. 9, 1989, and he died on Aug. 13, 1995.

Adelene had worked in the dietary department of Mercy Hospital for 25 years. She later worked as a switchboard operator at the hospital for an additional five years. She enjoyed fishing and going to parades with her dear friend, Vernon Trembly. She was a member of the Bethel Community Church.

Survivors include her special friend and caregiver, Vernon Trembly of Uniontown, Kan.; three step-sons, Steven Burch, St. Charles, Mo., Thomas Burch, Big Sandy, Texas, and David Burch, House Springs, Mo.; three step-daughters, Nancee Gore, O'Fallon, Mo., Susan Adkerson, Pevely, Mo., and Kathleen Ott, Imperial, Mo.

Also surviving are two sisters, Harriet Wilcox, Bartlesville, Okla., and Bette LaPiere, Fort Scott, Kan., and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Sandwith, and a sister, Alfreda Smith.

Rev. Philip Rhodes will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
