Vitamin D presentation set

A free educational program about the importance of vitamin D will be offered at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Cavalry Crossing apartments community room, 201 W. 23rd Street.

Presenter will be Nancy Schuster, Kansas State University Extension Family and Consumer Sciences agent in Anderson County. Vitamin D is important in building and maintaining strong bones. Many studies are now looking at vitamin D's role in health and disease prevention. Current research shows that more than three out of every four Americans have inadequate vitamin D levels.

Topics to be covered during the one-hour program include the sun's role, why vitamin D is important, how much is enough and ways to boost vitamin D levels.
