To the Editor:

Studies show that family caregivers have a major influence on their loved ones who have special needs and disabilities. The evidence points to the fact that family caregivers who feel alone and overwhelmed may become depressed, compromising their overall health and ability to care for those loved ones. In Bourbon County, this does not have to be the case, because your United Way supports Southeast Kansas Respite Services and we support you. The contributions made to the United Way of Bourbon County assure that respite services are available for you as you provide care for a family member who cannot be left alone. Thank you for this support.
