Treasurer audit to be finished this week

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

With only four days left in September, the plan to get the audit on the Bourbon County Treasurer completed by the end of the month is still on track.

Terry Sercer, of Diehl Banwart Bolten CPAs, completed the county's 2010 audit and was given the responsibility of looking into the Bourbon County Treasurer's Office following the allegations of questionable and potentially illegal practices by Treasurer Susan Quick.

Sercer, who would not comment on the results of the audit until they have been shared with the commissioners, said the process has gone fine and there have been no complications. He added that Quick and her office have been "extremely cooperative" throughout the whole process.

Results of the audit are expected to be presented to the commission during their Oct. 3, meeting, however, the appointment has not yet been made, Sercer said.

He added the audit has taken longer to complete because of the timing of it. He said he had to put three other jobs on hold to go through the large volume of information that was compiled.
