Biblesta events set in Humboldt Oct. 1
Humboldt's 54th Biblesta Parade will be held Saturday, Oct. 1. Events are planned to start at 8 a.m. with the Run for the Son and continue through Biblesta After Dark.
Biblesta is the only Christian-based parade in the country. Run for the Son is a 3K walk/5K or 10K run.
Pre-registration is available on the Biblesta website, www.biblesta.com or a registration table will be set up on the corner of Eighth and Bridge, in front of city hall. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m.
Race routes can be viewed on the website. Entry fee is $20.
All of the entertainment is free but donations are accepted. This year's featured singer is Kerri Roberts, she will perform from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Robert's started performing at age 5 and wrote her first song while in high school. She is known for her single "No Matter What," a declaration to serve God because He saved you from sin, not because He is saving you from pain of this life, and her album "Kerrie Roberts," a news release said.
Entertainment in the city square will begin with the Community Choir at 10:30 a.m. The Fishers will perform at 11:15 a.m., and the Missourians at noon. The parade will start at 1:30 p.m. Roberts will perform at 2:30 p.m., Roger Cooper at 3:45 p.m. and Jamison at 4:30 p.m.
Non-profit groups will have food booths set up in the square.
The free bean feed will be held at 5 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring their own bowl and utensils. Cornbread will be sold.
Biblesta Youth Activities will be held throughout the day on New York Street between seventh and eighth streets.
There will be inflatables, train rides and face painting. Kansas Wildlife & Parks and Humboldt Police will be on hand to visit with the kids.
Shawn Reida will present two magic shows, 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Noah's Ark Petting Zoo will also be there.
The second Biblesta After Dark, a Christian Youth Rally, will start at 7 p.m. with music from Awakening, a Christian band from Neodesha, and Christian singer-songwriter Terry Peck.
The Neodesha High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Skit Crew will also perform.
Windows in the downtown area are decorated with a Bible-based theme. There is still time to sign up to enter a float or walking event.
