During the Old Settlers Picnic at Uniontown he was injured when a horse ran toward him causing a pointed pole which was attached to the animal's collar to enter Pool's chest. Three ribs and his collarbone were broken and the stick pierced a lung. He is out of danger unless a blood poison sets in and the attending physician thinks it will not.

"Mama Mia! Five Fort Scott High School football players received the shock of their lives at the Friday afternoon pep assembly when the cheerleaders, whom the boys thought they were kissing, turned out to be their mothers.

What the football players thought would be a blindfold kissing contest, turned out to be a joke played out before a gathered crowd of hysterical students. When asked to rate the kisses before the players removed their blindfolds, some of the responses were "great," "awesome." Mouths dropped open and mouths widened."-- Photo by John Lechliter
