Uniontown Old Settlers host gospel showcase
The 2011 Old Settlers celebration will host a Sunday evening Gospel Showcase at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 in the Uniontown City Park. This year's featured guest is Cindy Powell, a talented vocalist who also has a gift of Christian humor, a news release said.
Powell has been in music ministry for more than 25 years.
"God has given me the great privilege of sharing the gift of singing and comedy with people all over the nation," she said in the release. "He has allowed me to maintain my home, raise a family and work full time at the local library while still always having time to witness and minister through music and laughter."
Powell has also recorded several tapes and CDs through the years including a special recording called, "Everytime," which is dedicated to her mother who passed away in 2004. Her latest CD, titled "Come Morning," includes many beloved southern gospel favorites such as "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow," "Going Home" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."
Powell lives with her husband, Warren, in Coffeyville, Kan. They have three children and 11 grandchildren.
The Uniontown community is privileged to welcome Powell to its showcase and invites area residents to share in this blessing.
Bring your own lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the showcase will be held in the Uniontown Baptist Church.
