CHANUTE -- Fort Scott High's volleyball team split a non-league triangular at Chanute Tuesday night. The Tigers defeated Colgan, 25-9, 25-20, but lost to the host Blue Comets, 25-11, 25-19.

Mallory Shelton recorded 12 kills against Colgan and Ericah Shoemaker had 4 kills.

"We played well against Colgan," FSHS head coach Carol Bingesser said. "We passed well. Our back row passed very well."

Shelton had 10 kills against the Blue Comets.

"Chanute is tall," Bingesser said. "They blocked well, served well. We struggled with our serve receive and we were slow getting to the block. Mallory hit the ball well and adjusted to their big blockers."

Fort Scott (3-2) hosts Prairie View and Iola in the first home matches of the season starting at 5 p.m. this evening.
