(From left) Jonathan Gauthier, Carter Wood and Kaydra Wood, participated in the 15th Annual Christian Karate Camp at Camp Cyokamo in Alba, Mo., Aug. 12-14 The Christian Karate Camp, hosted by Master Jim Riggs since its inception, consisted of seminars taught by black belts from several different styles including taekwondo, karate, and kempo.
Gauthier, a purple belt, placed first in forms and second in fighting in the 10-12 intermediate division. Carter Wood, a green belt, won fighting in the teen under-18 division with a point in sudden death overtime.
Blue belt Kaydra Wood competed in the 7-9 year old intermediate division where she won both forms and fighting.
All three are students of Walt Kimler of Fort Scott Tae Kwon Do. They meet for class every Monday and Thursday evening at the Buck Run Community Center from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m.
