HOWARD RAY TRIPP

Howard Ray Tripp, 84, of Pleasanton, Kan., died Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the Assisted Life Styles Home in Olathe, Kan. He was born April 10, 1927, in Lawrence County, Tennessee, the son of William Tripp and Lena Smith Tripp.

He served with the United States Navy during World War II. Following his service with the Navy, he married Susan Jane Bair on March 23, 1957, at Lowell, Ark.. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2004. Mr. Tripp had worked as a carpenter and maintenance for USD 233, Olathe Kan. He was a member of the Faith Christian Center.

Survivors include four sons, Howard Ray Tripp II, Plymouth, Minnesota, Douglas M. Tripp and Phillip W. Tripp, both of Olathe, Kansas and Scott N. Tripp, Crowley, Texas. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

There was cremation. Pastor Tim O'Neal will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2011, at the Faith Christian Center located south of Fort Scott at the intersection of U.S. 69 and Deer Road. Private burial will take place at the U. S. National Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Ft. Scott, Kan.
