Fort Scott Post No. 25 never really got anything going as they dropped two games to Wellsville Post No. 194 Tuesday night at Ty Cullor Field.

Post 25 head coach Cody Kramer said the team has suffered "two tough losses" as they head to the close of the regular season. Dropping two games 4-2 and 13-1, Kramer said the team never shown the desire to win.

"We never played very well ... We never came out with the intensity that we needed to and the fire like we needed to," he said. "These were important games. We needed these to try and finish second in the standings for a playoff position and we never did that tonight."

One of the biggest problem for Post 25 was pitching. In game one, Matt Carrillo pitched a complete game allowing four runs on 11 hits in route to a 4-2 loss. Carrillo did not allow a walk in that game and racked up five strikeouts.

Kramer said Carrillo struggled in the beginning, but settled down in the fourth inning.

During the five-inning second game, Post 25 used four pitchers, Jake Durossette, Kolby Harris, Dane Cummings, and Carrillo. All together, the four hurlers allowed 14 hits and eight walks. However, the defense did not help, committing three errors.

"In the second game, we couldn't find the strike zone," Kramer said. "Some of that has to do with our defense, our defense really struggled ... and we were making a lot of mental errors."

The offense never made much of an appearance either as the team went for a combined 5-37 from the plate in both games while striking out nine times. The five hits came from Durossette, who had a single in both games, Dustin Stewart with a single in the first game, and Durossette and Carrillo who each doubled in the second game.

Kramer said he hopes the team can put the two losses behind them as they move on to Garnet for another doubleheader Thursday.

He said if they win both games, the team has a good shot at securing the No. 2 seed in the league tournament, which begins Monday.

"I don't know where we sit right now, but if we win our last two games hopefully we'll get that two seed," he said.

Kramer said if the team secures the No. 2 seed, they will likely have a bye in the first round of the league tournament.

If they don't, they will play Monday.
