Leachners receive education awards

Shana Brianne Leachner, a junior at Kansas State University, received her second letter for scholastic honors, in which she completed 12 or more graded hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or above, from the dean in the College of Human Ecology. She earlier received a letter from the dean stating she was in the top 10 percent of her junior class.

Madison Taylor Leachner, an eighth grader at Chisholm Trail Middle School, received the President's Education Award for her outstanding academic excellence for this past school year.

The President's Award was signed by President Obama.

Both Shana and Madison are the daughters of Chad and Stacy Leachner, Olathe, Kan., and the granddaughters of Mike and Linda Leachner and Mike and Judy Carpenter, Fort Scott.
