Bronson Ruritan meets in May

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Nineteen members met on May 13 at the community center in Bronson. President Terry Johnston opened with the song "America" led by Julia Ann Rhoton and prayer by Geri Reeder. After the potluck meal, the president called for reports. Vice President Alan Stewart called roll. Secretary Louella Fuhrman read April minutes and Treasurer Joyce Wilkins said that bills were paid. Johnston reported on ball equipment expenses. Committee reports were given and hours turned in. Bronson Day, May 28, was discussed. Ruritan members were busy making floats for Bronson Day, and a special thanks to Retta Smith for her work and idea for the Ruritan float. Flags were placed on veterans' graves for Memorial Day by Barbara Woodward, Fred Ermel, Gene and Maxine Dickerson, Bill and Julia Ann Rhoton, Glenn Smith and Elvis and Geri Reeder. The club places flags on graves every year and put out 152. If any were missed, family members are asked to contact a Ruritan member. Thanks to the Moran American Legion for the ceremony May 30 at the cemetery and to the bikers bringing the flags down the highway. The club adjourned with the flag salute.
