Uniontown Saddle Club awards $1,000 in scholarships
The Uniontown Saddle Club annually awards the Warren McKinnis Scholarship. To qualify, an applicant must be a Uniontown High School senior or their family must be an active club member. This year, to help graduates pursue their college dreams, a total of $1,000 was awarded. All of the recipients are members of the USD 235 graduating class.
Breanna Esslinger received a $500 scholarship and a plaque. Reed Gleason was awarded a $200 scholarship. Jessie Camac, Caitlin Jackson and Katelyn Vincent each received $100 scholarships.
The Saddle Club established this scholarship to honor Warren McKinnis who was a rancher, teacher and outstanding community member. A part of the student's application is to research and write an essay about McKinnis. Although he died at the age of 43 from cancer, he left a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
