IDA MAE KROENKE
Ida Mae Kroenke, 85, of Walnut, Kan., died at 2:47 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011, in the Girard Medical Center. She was a resident of Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul since January of 2011.
She was born March 17, 1926, at Chanute, a daughter of Chester and Edna (Barton) Howell. She graduated from Hepler High School.
She married Oscar W. Kroenke on Aug. 29, 1943, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler. He survives in the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
She was a housewife and they were farmers at rural Walnut. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Oscar, of St. Paul are sons Keith E. Kroenke of Boling Green, Mo., Orville W. Kroenke and his wife Susan of Iola, Robert D. Kroenke and wife Jean of St. Paul and Edward E. Kroenke of Farmersville, Texas; her daughters are Joy S. Holloway and husband J.D. of Girard, Freda F. Kos of Rich Hill, Mo., Reta K. Baker and husband Bill of Fort Scott and Janice I. Baker and husband Charley of Hepler; a brother, Gerald Howell of Olathe, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by great-great-grandchildren Colten David Cornelius and Ashton Thomas Cornelius; a sister, Ilene Ausemus, and brothers George, Howard, Clyde and Don Howell.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler with Pastor Steve Sweyko officiating.
Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at rural Hepler.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 2:30 p.m., Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Mercy Foundation and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W. St. John, Box 258, Girard, Kan., 66743.
