W.C. Gunn has closed negotiations for the purchase of the outstanding interests in the Davison Theatre building, which was owned by the First National Bank, and the corner room of which was occupied by that bank. Mr. Gunn would not say whether the bank that is going into the old First National room is one of those now established in Fort Scott, or whether it is a new one. Mr. Gunn said the old bank room will be fitted up as to be one of the swellest and most convenient in the city.

A new club that has sprung into existence overnight has bled Fort Scott people of dimes. It is the custom for a friend to approach and ask you for a dime. You give it to him and get a card which gives you the privilege in the Fish Club. The card says: "Much obliged for the dime, dear friend. You are now a member of the Fish Club. Bite...you sucker. Pass word--'Lend me a dime.'"

The Fort Scott Band will make the courthouse ring tomorrow evening. It is a temporarily a practicing place for the upcoming concert.

Bids have been submitted at the post office for the hauling and installing of new furniture for the new federal building. The offers made are being withheld from publication until word is received from the treasury department to whom the bids have been sent. Postmaster G.R. Hughes has posted advertisements for bids for 40 tons of coal for the new building. The bids for coal are being asked in spite of the fact that the heating plant at the building is equipped to burn gas, it being intended to use the coal only in case of emergency.

The new building is to be equipped with new furniture throughout except for the two large safes, nine or 10 large beveled plate glass mirrors with cherry frames, and the roll top oak desk in use at present by the postmaster. This desk will be moved to the office of the post office inspector in the new building and the postmaster will be provided with a brand new desk. The latter desk, like all the other new ones in the building, will be flat topped, as the government is abandoning the use of roll top desks. All the new furniture is to be of oak or metal except for a table in the office of the district judge, which will be of walnut. It will be four feet wide and 72 inches long. The new building contains 37 electric clock, one in every room, controlled by a master clock. Also, the contractors installed a drinking fountain in every room and in every corridor, which will always produce cold water.
