MARJORIE ALICE LEWIS
Marjorie Alice Lewis, 94, of Fort Scott, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at her home.
She was born Feb. 24, 1917 in Fort Scott the daughter of Albert Roy and Evelyn Louise (Kennedy) Singmaster.
She married Marvin Singleton Lewis, May 18, 1937 in Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death April 6, 2005.
Marjorie was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church and the Union Bend Birthday Club. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.
Survivors include her children; Marvin Lewis and Lorena, of Girard; Ronald Lewis and Leah, of Fort Scott; Bill Lewis and Ruth, of Fort Scott; Beverly Peel, of Fort Scott; daughter-in-law Kitty Lewis; a sister, Dorothy Bullock of Kirksville, Mo.; a brother, Gene Singmaster of Julesburg, Colo.; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her four caregivers, Diana Walker, Patty Love, Lori Planter, and Michelle Rosenberg.
In addition to her husband, Marvin, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Lewis; son-in-law Larry Peel; three sisters, Isabel Shull, Carrie Fowler, and Jane Little, five brothers, Herbert Singmaster, Bob Singmaster, Brown Singmaster, Donald Singmaster, and Harold Singmaster; a grandson, twin great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with burial following at the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Mo.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Daughters of the Nile or Hospice Compassus and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, Kan., 66701.
