Concrete patching to begin on U.S. 69
Local motorists will soon start experiencing delays along U.S. Highway 69 between Fort Scott and Arma.
The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin work Friday on a concrete pavement patching project on the 14-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 69 between Fort Scott and Arma.
The project is expected to last for several months.
According to KDOT, a pilot car operation will guide one-lane traffic through the work zone during daylight hours Monday through Saturday. Delays of 15 minutes or less are expected, according to KDOT.
KDOT awarded the construction contract of $946,237 to Interstate Improvements Inc., of Faribault, Minn. The project should be finished by early May.
Motorists are reminded to stay alert, obey the warning signs, and "Give 'Em a Brake!" when approaching and driving through the work zone. Anyone with questions about the road work or other KDOT projects can call Pittsburg Area Construction Engineer Bob Gudgen at (620) 231-7560 or Southeast Kansas Public Affairs Manager Priscilla Petersen at (877) 550-5368.
