The Salvation Army Community Service Volunteers held their regular monthly meeting on Feb. 14 at the Salvation Army Citadel. Following an invocation by Jerry Eden, hostesses Sue Staudt, Gail Misch, Martha Bobek, Irene Crandell and Peggy Cade served a breakfast-brunch to the 27 members in attendance.

The work of the Salvation Army and the volunteers continued uninterrupted during the month of January. The Citadel served a total of 162 people during January, and 110 bags of groceries were distributed. A special thank you was given to CRMS for donated food. All food items are needed and appreciated.

Jerry Eden reminded everyone that the Salvation Army, in conjunction with the utility companies, can help with utility assistance for heating. People needing help are encouraged to call the Citadel for further information.

The business meeting included an update on the salad luncheon which will be on Tuesday, April 12 in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. There will be a raffle at the luncheon for a queen-sized quilt made by Joan Babcock. In addition, included in the raffle will be an afghan made by Mercedes Jones. The proceeds from the raffle will go to purchase school supplies for the "Pack -The Packs" project.

Anyone interested in attending the salad luncheon may purchase tickets for the luncheon for $4 apiece and tickets for the raffle for $1 each from any of the Salvation Army Community Service Volunteers. Tickets can be purchased at the door. This is the main money-making project for the volunteers and the salad selections are wonderful. We encourage everyone to attend.

The next meeting of The Salvation Army Community Service Volunteers will be March 14 at the Salvation Army Citadel. At that time, the nominating committee will present a slate of officers for the upcoming year.

Drawings for door prizes were won by Norma Hamm, Pat Alexander and Carolyn Brooks. Jody closed the meeting by reading historical facts about Valentine's Day in the U.S.A.
