A local salon took the chance to give back to the community by offering makeovers to several local mothers.

The Courtland Hotel and Aveda Day Spa, in partnership with Mother to Mother Ministries, provided makeovers for 10 local mothers who signed up.

"We always like to do things for the community because the community has done so much for us," Courtland Hotel and Aveda Day Spa co-owner Cheryl Adamson said.

The event consisted of 90 minutes of skin care, hair care and make-up classes. Adamson said she wanted to treat the women to something nice during a time which is commonly stressful. The women also received refreshments and take-home bags.

"I know that times are hard right now for a lot of different people. I feel very fortunate that we were able to offer this to the girls," Adamson said.

Adamson said that she likes to do something every year to help out in the community and that the makeovers have been done in the past. She added that she plans to do it again and may add another community event.

"This is something that we will probably do again. We've done this a couple of different times," she said. "Maybe next year we can do something bigger for more of the community."
