Flu clinics scheduled

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

In a collaborative effort to help keep Bourbon County residents healthy and "flu free" this winter, two free flu clinics have been scheduled in Fort Scott.

The first clinic is scheduled for 3:30-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, in the Kennedy Gymnasium, 705 S. Holbrook. The second clinic is set for 3:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Bourbon County Chapter of the American Red Cross office, 11 N. Broadway.

The vaccine was donated to the Mary Queen of Angels parish by Ann O'Bryan, president of Health Works Inc. in Topeka. O'Bryan, a former resident of Uniontown, said in a news release she "is proud to give back and help the residents of Bourbon County."

Registered nurses from Mary Queen of Angels parish and the Red Cross will administer the vaccine to individuals 14 years of age and older. Individuals are encouraged to protect the health of their families this holiday season by taking advantage of this free gift, according to a statement from the local Red Cross chapter.
