Meredith receives Employee of the Year award
Mercy Home Care is pleased to announce the selection of Bob Meredith, Physical Therapist, as "Employee of the Year" for 2010.
In celebration of the service's 36th anniversary and National Homecare Month, home health patients, co-workers and community members were invited to nominate and vote for staff members for the employee of the year award.
The nominations were open to all home care staff, including nurses, physical therapist, aides and office staff.
"We were pleasantly surprised to receive a large return of nominations from our home care patients," said Becky Davied, Mercy Home Care director. "Almost every nomination had a special comment about the employee they were voting for sharing how important that employee is or had been to them."
Davied said, "Meredith has a connection with his patients that gives them the strength and desire to get well. His humor, kindness, and compassion combined with his ability to motivate and encourage others make him an excellent therapist. Many comments were written on Meredith's nominations about him taking time to listen and make a personal connection with his patients."
One patient wrote, "He was so pleasant and friendly. I actually looked forward to his visits even though I knew the pain would be there. He pushed hard but his attitude made you want to do it...and I did. He seemed like a friend ... relaxed, jolly, but also very businesslike in his therapy treatments. His visits included time to take an interest in me and my spouse's lives which I feel is an important part of therapy. Caring!"
Davied commented, "It's my honor to present Meredith this award for Homecare employee of the year. He truly displays the Mercy Mission in the care that he provides and I am proud to have him on our team at Mercy Homecare."
Mercy Home Care was established in November 1974 and today serves approximately 900 annually, providing in-home nursing care, therapy services and medication administration among other services. Earlier this year, Mercy Home Care instituted well@home "telehealth" system which allows Mercy Home Care clinicians to closely monitor a patient between home and clinical visits through the use of in-home equipment that monitors critical bodily functions. These include blood pressure, heart rate, blood-oxygen levels, blood-sugar levels and even weight. The well@home systems also conduct electrocardiogram tests (ECG's ) if necessary.
