Final installment of the girls' get-together

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

This is the last episode of our girls' get together.

After breakfast was over we were ready for our shopping trip. We took off in Claudette's van as it seats six.

Our first stop was at Greenway Station, a fairly new shopping mall in Middleton, not too far from Susie's house. Everything there was decorated for fall. A huge shaped tree in the center of the mall was completely made of big pumpkins, very eye catching. As I think back on it, the day was a lovely, balmy fall day, with leaves floating down and the smell of fall was definitely in the air.

If I remember, our first stop was at Michael's Craft Shop. It really blew my mind to go up and down the aisles just looking for nothing in particular, but I would know immediately if I saw something that caught my eye, well ... that was just what I was looking for. We each went our merry way with instructions to meet at a certain time and then head for another shop

Marshall's Department Store was next on our agenda, again we all took off in different directions. So many things to see and so little time. Before we knew it, it was time to go to lunch.

Again six gals trying to agree on where to eat, it was finally decided to eat at TGIF Friday's. It took us all forever to decide just what we wanted for lunch, finally the waitress had our selections written down and as I remember when eating some time back they had BIG portions, yep, I was right, our plates had a mountain of food on them. We ate a very leisurely lunch and many cups of coffee or tea and visited up a storm.

It was time to finish our shopping spree. We went to East Town to Holly Hobby's. I loved that shop, so much to see and I am sure I looked like a "country bumpkin" (which I am) as I lollygagged up and down the aisles.

Our next stop was at World Market, I had never been there before, so it was all new to me. I think our last stop was at the Dollar Tree Dollar store. We were finally ready to call it a day and head for home.

After supper, which was a huge pizza, we decided to play some games, our first was a card game, Hand and Foot. That is one of my very favorite card games.

From there we decided to play "catch phrase" one of my most favorite of games.

We then watched a couple of movies, Old Dogs with John Travolta and Robin Williams, a comedy, very funny. Of course we had to watch Calendar Girls which has become an annual "must," one that we watch every year. I think we giggled all the way through. Sleep overcame us and we toddled off to bed.

The next morning we all slept in and each one of us had coffee and muffins and spent the rest of the day doing nothing but enjoying each other's company.

Our last night together was again spent watching chick flicks. This night we saw "A Dog Named Skip" with Kevin Bacon and I think Diane Lane. A very sweet movie. Next was "The Last Holiday" with Queen Latifah, very funny. Last but not least "The Inheritance" with Meredith Baxter.

Early Sunday we were all up early and packed. Ater some coffee we headed for home with only memories to hold in our hearts and remember this fun "girls' get together."
