Participation builds for reunion teachers' reception
Organizers say the excitement continues to build as more and more teachers, administrators and coaches commit to attend the Retired Teachers' Reception, a new feature of the 2010 Nevada High School All-School Reunion. This new experience is only a part of the scheduled programming during the two days of reunion festivities on Oct. 15-16.
As a way of honoring those who taught, coached and directed NHS alumni, a gathering will be held in the high school commons area on Saturday, Oct. 16, between 10 a.m. and noon; specialty cookies and punch will be served. A large turnout of former educators is expected. Tours of the school facility also will be available during that time period.
According to Ranea Schultz, reunion committee member and event organizer, letters have been sent to all known addresses of former NHS educators and presentation made to the local retired teachers organization.
"The committee is very excited about the Retired Teachers' Reception. What a great opportunity for former students to re-connect with their former instructors," said Schultz.
Additional sanctioned reunion activities include: four dances, decade reunions, and all-classes box dinner. Other available activities during the reunion weekend consist of a tailgate party in the NHS commons area, football game at Logan Field, Smithsonian Exhibit at the Bushwhacker Museum, the opportunity to walk through the James A. Novak Baseball Museum and tours of the remodeled Fox Theater.
Walk-in registration for the Nevada High School All-School Reunion continues at the Nevada Vernon County Chamber of Commerce offices and on-line at www.NHSre-unions.com.
