Lightning halts soccer match

Lightning strikes in the vicinity 32 minutes into the match brought a halt to Fort Scott High Schools soccer match with Blue Valley Southwest Thursday afternoon.

According to the officials, since the game did not reach halftime, when it is rescheduled it will have to be replayed in its entirety. At the time the lightning started to become a threat to the safety of the players, the visiting Timberwolves were leading 1-0.

The Tigers (0-1) will play their first Southeast Kansas League match Tuesday at Independence.
