The Rooks family will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Park Pavilion near the corner of First and Main streets.

The family has been singing gospel music for more than five years. The group consists of Paul Rooks, pastor of Grace Baptist Tabernacle, his wife, Shelley, and their three children; Brittani, who is starting her third year in college, Chase, a senior at Fort Scott High School, and Courtney, an eighth grader at Fort Scott Middle School.

The family not only sings together but they each play a variety of musical instruments. Also performing Friday will be the GBT Quartet, which Chase is involved in along with Curtis Ramsey, Ben Brundage and Mark Ledford. The quartet will be accompanied by Allen Pruitt.

The concert is part of the weekly Friday night concert series sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce Downtown Division. The concert is free of charge and open to the public. Attendees should remember to bring their own seating as none is provided at the event.
