Senior Swingers

Friday, May 14, 2010

It was a nice evening Monday night for the Senior Swingers dance. The rain had stopped and we missed the storm.

We arrived at 5 p.m. and one of the office help had put up the chairs and was setting up the tables. Mary Sue helped him finish. There weren't any basketball boys on the floor so as soon as the folks started coming, the coffee was ready and we did some visiting.

Joan Mills, from Sterling, Colo., really enjoyed the visiting. She is Mary Sue's sister and has been gone for a few years. She loved to dance and we all were glad to see her. A couple of her brothers were here and they all danced.

Marion Shrimplin called in the afternoon saying he wouldn't be at the dance. Wanda, his wife, thought it was too bad. He plays the bass guitar and sings. We missed him, but got along the best we could.

Carol and George Davenport were coming to help me out, but they were afraid of the storm. However, there were dancers in attendance from Blue Mound, Pittsburg and Nevada.

Neva and Alva Hite couldn't make it. She fell in the front yard and broke her wrist a week ago and was grounded.

We had a few couples here who hadn't been present for some time.

Wes Coleman and wife celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary and we sang to them, gave them a cake and took some pictures.

The crowd wasn't very big but we had a good time. Hope the weather will be better next week.

Cadmus will have their regular dance Firday night.

I'm feeling better, still have a long way to go.
