RUTH M. JARO

Ruth M. Jaro, 71, of Ft. Scott, KS died, unexpectedly, at 5:21 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2009 in her home.

Ruth was born December 17, 1937 in Canon City, CO, to Byron J. and Isla (Albers) Carter. She grew up and attended schools in Stafford, Kansas. She went on to graduate from Mercy School of Nursing and the University of San Francisco.

On September 6, 1958 in Hutchinson, KS, she married Jack D. Jaro. He survives of the home.

Ruth was a Registered Nurse for Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott and retired from there. She has worked in this field all her life; from floor nursing to management. She did volunteer work for the American Red Cross.

Ruth was of the Lutheran faith. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her flowers, animals and all aspects of nature.

Additional survivors include her sons Marc Jaro of Limerick, ME, Thad and Bret Jaro both of Ft. Scott, KS and daughter Jacqueline Jaro of Ft. Scott, KS; brother William J. Carter of Fall River MA; sisters Shirley Robinson of Wichita, KS and Karen Milberger of West Minister, CO; along with 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother Clara (Drews) Carter.

Per the family's wishes her body has been taken for cremation.

No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at a later date in California.
