Eagle baseball sweeps Wildcats
MORAN -- Uniontown's baseball team swept Marmaton Valley in a Three Rivers League doubleheader here Monday by scores of 7-6 and 15-2.
Anthony Myers (3-1) was the winning pitcher for the Eagles in the opener, striking out 6 batters while allowing 9 hits and 6 walks. Jake Dawson earned a save with 2 strikeouts in the seventh.
Ty Clayton was 3 for 4 at the plate for the Eagles (2-2 TRL, 4-5) overall. He also drove in 4 runs, 3 scoring on a bases-loaded double in a 4-run third inning that gave Uniontown a lead at 4-2 that it didn't relinquish.
Marmaton Valley threatened with 4 runs in the sixth inning to get within 1 run.
The Wildcats also scored first in the second game but Uniontown scored in every inning from the second on, eventually forcing the run rule to take effect. The game was halted after 5 innings.
Tyler Felt was 3 for 3 for the Eagles wit 3 RBI. Jordan Woods went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI. Dawson drove in 3 runs while Clayton and Max Labbe each drove in 2.
Du'Shaun Robinson (1-2) was the winning pitcher for the first time this season as head coach Chris Woods noted that he looked much more comfortable on the mound. He allowed 3 hits and 7 walks and struck out 7.
The Eagles are off until April 29 when they will face Altoona-Midway in a league doubleheader on the road. Last Friday's rained-out games against Jayhawk-Linn have not yet been rescheduled.
