Water on the smoke

A local woman, whose name was not disclosed, attempts to extinguish the flames coming from a black plastic tool case on the fire escape outside her apartment, located at 2 N. Main St., Monday morning. According to the Fort Scott Fire Department, the residents of the apartment were in the process of moving and had placed the case on top of the stove when the burner was turned on accidentally. Officials said there was minimal smoke damage and no damage from the flames. (Michael Pommier/Tribune)
