Actor as Rickey to appear at FSCC's 'Pride and Passion' Thursday night
Organizers of "Pride and Passion: the African-American Baseball Experience," a traveling exhibit on display in the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center at Fort Scott Community College, invite the public to a special event at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the center, 2108 S. Horton St.
Guest speaker John "Chuck" Chalbert will give a presentation as Branch Rickey, a former Major League Baseball executive, and is expected to talk about baseball and other topics, most importantly Rickey's decision to sign Jackie Robinson to a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
According to a news release, Chalbert delights audiences throughout the United States with his impersonations of such notable people in history as President Theodore Roosevelt and golfter Bobby Jones. He has performed for state chautauquas all across the country, as well as for many colleges and business groups. As Rickey, Chalberg is ready to entertain and inform.
Audience members are encouraged and welcome to ask questions or offer memories.
