Girard man dies in lawnmower accident

GIRARD -- Crawford County Emergency Personnel were dispatched to 119 S. 160th St. in rural Girard Tuesday evening in regards to a lawnmower accident.

According to a statement released by the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, 60-year-old Greg Evans was found trapped beneath his John Deere Zero Turn mower. Reports said Evans was mowing along a creek bank on the property when the mower overturned into the creek, pinning him underwater. Evans was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

Evans' body was removed from the scene and transported for autopsy at the request of the Crawford County Coroner, according to the statement. The exact cause of death is pending the results of the autopsy.
