FSCC hosts Women's Appreciation Luncheon
Fort Scott Community College will host its annual Women's Appreciation Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at FSCC, 2108 S. Horton St.
The luncheon is a popular event that FSCC hosts every spring in order to give area women a chance to take a break from their schedules for a day of fun, shopping and pampering. At the event, attendees will be able to enjoy a buffet-style catered lunch and a variety of entertainment. Attendees will have the chance to participate in gift giveaways and view a variety of products offered by several area businesses.
In past years, the entire event took place in the FSCC cafeteria, but with the addition last year of the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center on the FSCC campus, organizers have split the event into two venues on the campus in order to accommodate more vendors and to create a better shopping experience for attendees, according to a news release.
FSCC Director of Public Relations Kathleen Hinrichs, the emcee for the event, said organizers have also extended the event by 30 minutes this year to allow guests more time to enjoy lunch, shopping, and all other planned activities.
Lunch that day will be served in the FSCC cafeteria and will be catered by Great Western Dining Service. Lunch will include spaghetti, garlic bread, a fruit tray, hot roll, garden salad, caesar salad, desserts and a beverage.
After the meal, guests will walk across campus to the fine arts center for shopping and prize giveaways. Several area vendors and businesses have donated items that will be given away throughout the day in a drawing. Each person who attends the event will receive a gift bag, compliments of FSCC.
According to the news release, guests will see familiar faces among the many vendors and will have the chance to meet new merchants as well. Area merchants that will have products available for purchase include the Courtland Aveda Salon and Day Spa, Mary Kay, Premiere Design Jewelry, Pampered Chef, Pretty Posh, Simply Tasteful, Life+Style, Dr. Brown's Dentist office, Curves, Mercy Spirit of Women, Elite Images and Sun Glasses, and others.
The event, which typically draws between 200-300 area women of various ages and occupations each year, was created years ago to attract more people to the college and get the community more involved in college activities.
To accommodate different lunch schedules, area women who are interested in attending the event may do so anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The cost of the luncheon is $7.50 per person.
Due to catering considerations and to assure appropriate accommodations for those in attendance, advance reservations are requested. To make reservations, call the FSCC switchboard at (620) 223-2700.
