Pleasanton track season gets underway

Pleasanton's track and field teams opened the season Tuesday with a varsity meet at Archie, Mo., and a junior varsity meet at Southeast.

Results from Archie:

* Preston Coffman took first in boys pole vault with an effort of 11 feet event.

* Reid Hein won shot put with a mark of 42 feet, 6 inches.

* Skyler Martin was second in discus at 117' 2".

* The 4x100-meter relay team of Dakota Kern, Coffman, Tyler Myrick and Jon Ransier finished second in 48.2 seconds.

* Myrick placed fifth in high jump at 5' 6". Ransier was sixth at the same height but taking more attempts to clear it.

* Kim Robinson won girls shot put with an effort of 32' 7" and was third in discus at 87' 2".

At Southeast, Pleasanton's teams swept the meet. The boys scored 111 points to finish 20 ahead of Colgan. The girls edged Baxter Springs by 3 points (103-100). Southeast was the third-place team on both sides.

Boys' results from Southeast:

* Baker Inman won discus with a mark of 97 feet even and was fourth in shot put at 32' 10".

* Dylan Ellis won high jump, clearing 5' 6", placed second in triple jump at 30' 5 1/2" and was third in the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 51:05 seconds.

* Billy Stark won long jump with a leap of 17' 5", , placed fifth in high jump at 5 feet even and was sixth in the 100 meters in 13.1.

* Trevor Stroud was second in long jump at 17' 5", third in the 400 meters in 1:01.65 and fifth in the 100 in 12.9.

* Mason Coffman was third in triple jump at 28' 3" and high jump at 5' 4" and was also fifth in javelin with a mark of 108' 8".

* Zac Willis was fourth in the 1,600 in 5:53.25.

* Stark, Coffman, Marcus Lewis and Stroud turned in a third-place time of 51.08 in the 4x100 relay.

* Willis, Caleb Melugin, Dylan Portman and Lewis finished third in the 4x800 relay in 11:22.05.

Girls' results from Southeast:

* Lindsey Conn won both the 100 and 200 meters. Her 100 time was 14.3 seconds and her 200 was 28.91.

* Conn was the anchor leg of the first-place 4x100 relay team with Codi Byington, Lauren Baker and Hannah Streeter that turned in a time of 58.89.

* Streeter won the high jump at 4' 8" and placed second in the 400 in 1:12.97.

* Byington was second in the long jump at 19' 10" and third in the 100 meters in 15.8.

* Harley Fletcher took second in high jump, was fourth in long jump and finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 22.96.

* Ashley Newill was second in the 1,600 meters and fourth in the 800.

* The 4x400 relay team of Leeza Saunders, Rhiannon Jones, Newill and Alyssa Marshall took second place.

* Baker was fifth in long jump at 20' 10".

* Jones finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles.

* Saunders was sixth in the 400 meters.

The next varsity meet for Pleasanton will be Tuesday at Southeast. The next JV event scheduled is April 27 at Fort Scott.
