Jayhawks roll by Patriots, to face hosts Thursday

MOUND CITY -- Four Jayhawks reached double figures in scoring Monday night as third-seeded Jayhawk-Linn defeated Howard-West Elk 54-20 in a first-round game of the Oswego Class 2A Sub-State Tournament.

The Jayhawks (15-6) will take on the tournament hosts Thursday night at 7:30. Oswego (16-5) defeated Marmaton Valley 64-35 Monday.

Meriel Long scored 12 points for the 'Hawks. Amory Miller and Emma Hargrove each added 11 points and Taylor Dawson had 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The Jayhawks made 21 of 44 field-goal tries (48 percent), hauled down 34 rebounds and committed just 12 turnovers.

J-Linn led 46-16 at halftime.
