Buzzer-beater boosts Sedan
UNIONTOWN -- G.A. Tucker hit a contested shot with two seconds remaining to bring Uniontown girls' season to a premature end here Monday night. Tucker's shot capped a 29-point night as the Sedan sharpshooter led her fifth-seeded Blue Devils to a 46-45 victory over the fourth-seeded Eagles in a first-round Oswego Class 2A Sub-State Tournament game.
"Any time your season ends it hurts," Uniontown head coach Ken Holt said. "But this was especially painful."
The Blue Devils (12-8) led 16-9 after one period. But the Eagles (13-8) rallied to take a 27-25 lead into halftime.
After three, Uniontown led 39-35.
Tucker made 10 of 21 field-goal attempts, including four 3-point shots.
"She had incredible night before that last show," Holt said. "I couldn't be prouder of our girls. They played hard for four quarters. We just came up short."
Jacy Ermel scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Eagles. Abbie Smith followed with 10 points.
Sedan will face the winner of Monday's Humboldt-Colgan game in Thursday's semifinals at Oswego.
