Dannie Ray Hendrix, age 48, a resident of Walker, Mo., died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at his home.

He was born Dec. 10, 1961, at Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Larry Dean Hendrix and Judy Carson Hendrix.

He married Susan Hester on June 18, 1987.

He held an associate degree in electronics technology which he received from Fort Scott Community College.

He was instrumental in helping his wife as they home schooled their children, after all the hard work, he and his family were honored by receiving Presidential Environmental Youth Award Region Seven by Al Gore in Washington, DC in 1998. He was awarded the Daily Point of Light award by President George Bush Sr. for producing the website the "Kids Channel" in 1999 which brought joy to children around the world.

He was a good man who dearly loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; and his children, Samantha Hendrix, Stillwater, Okla., Nicole Hendrix, Fort Scott, Kan., Bethany Hendrix and Nick Hendrix, both of Fulton, Kan. Also surviving are a brother, Larry Dean Hendrix, Redfield, Kan., a sister, Shelly Fields, Cameron, Mo.; and his grandmother, Betty Carson, Fort Scott.

A private family visitation will be held on Tuesday. Cremation will follow. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kan.
