After Janet Vanleeuwen of St. Paul, underwent surgery on her shoulder, then went to the home of her parents, John and Vera Parrish to recuperate in Pittsburg. She is reported to be doing very well with her arm in a sling. We wish her well.
The first week back at Fort Scott Community College this January, a good number of students gathered at the Christians on Campus meeting. This is a weekly meeting with a Bible lesson, food, fun and fellowship on Thursday evenings. Often on Saturday evenings an informal gathering is held at the farm home of Larry and Vickie Shead, the sponsors.
Pastor David Peterson returned to his pulpit in Arcadia Christian Church after traveling to Kentucky and Tennessee to attend Contact Missions USA last week. Upon his return, he and his family had a reunion and guests in Arcadia Church on Sunday were his mother, Twonette Skidmore from Wichita; her brother, Gregory Epley from San Fransisco, Calif., and David's sister Danielle Peterson from Charleston, S.C., and his lady friend, Kara Stephan from Joplin. Guest speaker on Jan. 24 will be former Pastor, Charles Cable. We expect a special musical number by him and his wife Willa Cable.
Due to bad weather, several have been missing on several Sunday mornings. This past Sunday, the Parishs were so glad to be back, Vera gave to her lady Sunday school classsmates crocheted scrubbies that she hand-made during her absence from church.
The Cato Historical Preservation Association meets every fourth Tuesday of each month in the Arcadia Community Center. People who are interested in learning more about Cato are invited to attend.
Galen and Jodie Dunn as Missionaries to the Philippines established a church and school several years ago. More recently they had spent several months due to his health back in the USA. They have traveled through Oklahoma, her home state, Kansas, his home state, Missouri and Michigan. At present, they are now back in the Philippines for a short term, happy to see how well the ones left in charge of church and school are carrying on in their absence.
