USD 234 Board reviews insurance plans
Members of the USD 234 Board of Education met Monday for their regular monthly meeting.
The board approved the official consent agenda, which included the treasurer's report and the $1.1 million November district payroll. The board also approved Dec. 15 as the date for the district Christmas dinner.
Board members approved the Fort Scott Community College Interactive Distance Learning Technical Education Consortium Memorandum of Understanding for the operation of the Health Career Sciences program for the 2009-10 school year.
USD 234 Business Manager Alan Drake reviewed district insurance values with the board. Drake also reviewed property and casualty insurance and vehicle insurance proposals the district recently received. The board will meet in special session for the purpose of reviewing these proposals in detail.
Board members reviewed two bids received for the York School property. The board accepted a bid of $11,299 from Tracy Galvin of Coldwater, Kan.
Drake reviewed the results of a recent district audit by the Kansas State Department of Education, the governor's recent public education reductions, and how these factors will affect the district's 2009-10 budget.
Board members approved the employment of Bo Graham as a wrestling coach at Fort Scott High School.
The board conducted two executive sessions; one to discuss personnel matters for nonelected personnel, and another to discuss matters relating to actions adversely or favorably affecting a person as a student.
The board returned to open session and adjourned after no further action.
