WILLIAM "WILD BILL" SOLTREN
William "Wild Bill" Soltren, age 56, resident of 323 N. Cleveland, Fort Scott, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home following a cancer illness.
Bill was born May 27, 1953, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the son of Cosme Soltren and Julia Redillo.
Bill served in United States Navy.
He married Joan Seaver.
He worked most of his life as a truck driver for various companies.
Bill was an active bowler and enjoyed working on cars. He also loved spoiling his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife Joan of the home; his father, Cosme Soltren, Puerto Rico; three sons, William Soltren, Jr., Florida, Thomas Soltren, New York, and Timothy Soltren, Maryland; two daughters, April Soltren, New York, and Valarie Bethea; one brother, Jose Rodriguez; two sisters, Matide Acevedo and Anne Soltren.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, William M. Soltren, Cassidi Soltren, Lucas Lowery, and Aidan Bethea.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
There was cremation.
Jeff Owen, Hospice Chaplain, will conduct memorial graveside services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, in the U. S. National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Thursday morning at Cheney Witt Chapel until leaving for the cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to either Veterans Administration Hospital, Fort Scott Manor, or Hospice Care of Kansas and may be left in care of Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kan.
