Tiger tennis falls at Nevada
NEVADA -- Fort Scott High School's tennis team dropped all of its matches in a best-of-9 dual here Tuesday.
The Tigers hosted their home tournament Thursday evening. Results were not available by press time but will be published in Saturday's edition of the Weekend Herald-Tribune.
At Nevada, there were six singles matches and three doubles matches. There were also three junior varsity matches.
In varsity singles play, Kalia Dancy lost an 8-1 decision to Nevada's Daren Smith in the No. 1 match. Michelle Buntain was defeated by Leah Creasy, 8-1, in the No. 2 match.
Taylor Bailey played No. 3 and lost to Kaytlyn Short, 8-0. Heather Hobbs went on at No. 4 and was beaten by Caitlin Wager, 8-0.
In No. 5 singles, Hannah Messer lost an 8-1 decision to Ashley McKinley. And in the No. 6 match, Sammi Carr lost to Katie Braver.
Doubles play saw Buntain and Bailey fall to Smith and Short, 8-0, in the No. 1 match. Dancy and Hobbs lost to Creasy and Wagner, 8-4, at No. 2. And Corina Harrison and Bailee Hall lost to McKinley and Braver, 8-2, in the No. 3 match.
In the JV matches, Harrison lost to Ashley Magsam in singles, 6-0. Hall lost to Regan Kimbrough, 6-3, in singles. And Carr and Messer lost to Lauren Phillips and Brandi Perrin in doubles, 6-1.
Saturday, the Tigers will take part in the Southeast Kansas League Tournament at Pittsburg State University. Play will begin at 9 a.m.
