Eagles sweep league foes

UNIONTOWN -- Uniontown's volleyball team, which moved up two spots to No. 2 in Class 2A in the latest Kansas Volleyball Association poll, won its 14th and 15th straight matches as it swept Chetopa and Marmaton Valley in Three Rivers League action Tuesday on Senior Night.

The Eagles (5-0 TRL, 19-1 overall) swept Chetopa, 25-11, 25-4. Senior Abbie Smith had 10 kills for UHS while senior Jessica Schaaf had 9.

Uniontown then beat Marmaton Valley, 25-12, 25-9 as Jacy Ermel recorded 11 kills and Smith 9.

Candice Clayton is the Eagles' other senior, serving as the team's setter.

The Uniontown junior varsity defeated Chetopa, 25-12, 25-12, and Marmaton Valley, 26-24, 25-12.

Oberlin-Decatur Community is ranked No. 1 in in Class 2A by the KVA voters with a 17-1 record.
