Tiger golfers 7th at Pittsburg

PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High School's golf team finished second among Southeast Kansas League teams and seventh overall at the Pittsburg Invitational here Tuesday.

The tournament is one of the three Southeast Kansas League designated tournaments. The last one will be held today at Columbus. The unofficial totals have Chanute 45 strokes ahead of Fort Scott in the team standings.

Individually, Maggie Sloan of Pittsburg won the tournament with a score of 42-37--79 and has a 12-stroke lead in the league standings over Chanute's Taylor Gard. Fort Scott's Kacie Brown is 26 strokes behind Sloan.

Brown was Fort Scott's best finisher here Tuesday with a 49-50--99, which put her one stroke out of a medal. Shelby Blackburn was next at 53-53--105, which tied for 16th. Devan Lloyd finished at 59-61--120 for the Tigers while Karley Stark carded a 65-59--124 and Haley Kruse finished at 73-72--145.

The Tigers shot 448 as a team. Fredonia won a tie-breaker with Nevada as the team champion as both teams shot 394. Fredonia had the fifth-place golfer with the better score.

Caney Valley and Chanute tied for third and the same tie-breaker gave Caney third after both shot 419. Girard was next at 421.

Gard was second individually at 40-43--83.
