Ettore

Fort Scott Community College has hired John David (J.D.) Ettore, sports marketing executive, as its new athletic director.

After a broad search and extensive interview process, FSCC offered the job to Ettore

"I am thrilled to be able to hire such a qualified person," FSCC President Clayton Tatro said. "FSCC is lucky to have such a fine candidate for this position."

Ettore has an extensive background working in the professional sports industry, including the NFL, NBA, and NASCAR. As a marketing executive for America Online, Inc. (AOL Time Warner), Ettore had the opportunity to work with the most prestigious athletic organizations in the world.

While working with the NFL, he led partnerships with all 32 teams on behalf of AOL. Those partnerships consisted of marketing, advertising, licensing rights, stadium advertising, and community development. Ettore led all of AOL's marketing dealings with the Super Bowl for six consecutive years. He managed the field marketing team behind the NFL Experience, which included a 100' x 100' ultimate football experience area.

With NASCAR, Ettore was in charge of the title sponsorship of AOL's #30 car with team owner Richard Childress. For four years, Ettore led marketing for the Winston Cup, later known as the Nextel Cup. This premier racing series is now known as the Sprint Cup. He led the national, regional, and local marketing advertising with their partners as well as corporate and community development.

Ettore also managed AOL's marketing and sponsorship partnership with the NBA All-Star Weekend. The partnership included the use of clips and behind the scenes footage, which allowed AOL members a "bird's eye" view of the event.

Outside of Ettore's athletic experience, he has a vast background in business. As a marketing executive for over 15 years, he has knowledge in business development, advertising, media, traditional and non-traditional marketing, and sales. He comes directly to FSCC from Adorn Ventures where he was a Strategic Partnership Consultant in Kansas City. Before that time, Ettore was in San Diego as the Vice President of Marketing at Dayak, Inc. and the Senior Vice President of Online Marketing at Student Loan Xpress. Preceding San Diego, he spent seven years with AOL in various positions, including National Brand Marketing Director, Senior Manager, National Brand Promotions and Sponsorships, and as the Manager for National Field Promotions. Through Ettore's years of experience, he has shown great initiative, ingenuity, and excellent business skills. These qualities will help him lead FSCC's athletic department to even greater success.

Ettore takes the lead position of the Greyhound athletic program during a positive time for 'Hound athletics. FSCC athletic programs have had marked success during the past few years. With a strong leader in Ettore, the department will enjoy positive achievements for years to come, and Ettore's strong marketing background will assist in strengthening the FSCC athletic department image.

"Fort Scott Community College was looking for someone that would be able to come in and immediately make some important changes to our athletic department," Tatro said. "I have ambitious goals for FSCC athletics and have total confidence that Ettore is the person to help us meet those goals. His experience in business development, marketing, fundraising, and community development is phenomenal and we are excited to see his abilities put to work. The community will start to see big changes over the next few years, including the potential for new and improved facilities to stronger community relations with the FSCC athletic department."
