A E "Brownie" Brown, Jr., 84, passed away May 18, 2009 at Olathe Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, Kan., (913) 592-2244.

Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the American Diabetes Assoc.

Brownie was born Jan. 28, 1925 in Rich Hill, Mo.; to A E Brown, Sr. and Etta Day Woodfin Brown. He attended school in Nevada, Mo.

Brownie married Ethel Goins on Oct. 22, 1943 in Nevada.

He served as a Seaman in the US Navy.

They moved to Fort Scott in 1950, and then to Spring Hill in 1963.

Brownie barbered in Fort Scott for 13 years and then owned and operated Brownie's Barber Shop in Spring Hill for 46 years. He loved outdoor activities. Family was very important to him and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and four sisters.

Brownie is survived by his wife Ethel of the home; son Terry Brown and wife Kristy of Spring Hill; daughter Donna Bruner and husband Gene of Fort Scott; sister Bernice Wood of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren, Genea Bruner, David Bruner and wife Michele, Darren Bruner and wife Tracie, Derrick Brown and wife Gracie, and Brett Brown; four great grandchildren: Kylie, Dylan and Benjamin Bruner and Harley Holt.
