RICHARD ALDIS
Roger Landis Aldis, 56, formerly of Fort Scott, Kan, and most recently of Holton, Kan., passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Holton Community Hospital.
He was born Jan. 5, 1953 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of John and Ruth Gardner Aldis.
Roger grew up in Fort Scott, Kan., and attended school here. He had worked in Food and Beverage Service and Entertainment Management in Lawrence, Kan., Terre Haute, Ind., and Emporia, Kan. He later owned ABC Exteriors in Topeka for several years before starting his own houseboat business. He owned Starlite Houseboats for 20 years and built and sold luxury houseboats throughout the United States.
Roger is survived by his life partner, Carla Nissen of the home; his son, Anton Carl Nissen also of the home; his brother, Richard "Dick" Aldis of Harper, Kan.; his sister, Debra Brady of Vista, Calif.; 6 nephews: David Aldis, Chad Bunn, Chris Brady, Mike and Chris Watkins and Lane Hanzlicek; 2 nieces, Emily Prouse and Elisabeth Aldis.
Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Wetmore Cemetery, Wetmore, Kan.
