Dinner hosted to help local family

Everyone is invited to attend the Spaghetti and Lasagna Dinner served with Salad, Garlic Toast and Dessert on Sunday, Feb. 15 in Arcadia Comminity Center, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is a donation to assist a local family with utilities and heating sponsored by Caring Citizens Helping our Community. Please come and enjoy.

A group of young Sunday School friends, Andy and Stephanie Lechliter, Colby Caruthers, Allynn Bridgewater and Cheyenne Mellon called on Mary V. Shead on Tuesday evening and sang some of their school songs for her. Then they enjoyed playing on the swing set and the chinning bar.

Condolances go to the family of Iva Bley who died recently. Charlene Widmar of Arma is her daughter. Also friends were sorry to hear of the death of Delroy Totman who died Feb. 2 in Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He with his parents, Bill and Mary Totman lived in Arcadia many years. He served in U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

The Nobles of the Mystic Shrine better known as Shriners, elected Stan Jahay, as the 100th Potentate to serve Mirza since its beginning in 1909. Stan and wife Debbie are long time residents of Arcadia where they have been active in the community. Stan joined Mirza in 1995 and has worked toward their cause of helping children.

Dates of interest to be held in Community Center are Feb. 14, Open Door Activity; Feb. 21 -- Kids Night -- all are welcome to attend; Cato meeting Feb. 24 and on the 28 Our Gang for a fun evening.

City Council meeting night has been changed. This month of February it will be held on the 10th and then on the second Tuesday of each month thereafter. The Kids Night held on Jan. 17, was a big success thanks to all who helped.

The Beulah Church Activity Center -- South of Girard has announced their special gatherings for March 7, Chili Feed; April 4--Rummage Sale; May 2, Ham and Bean dinner and June 6, Ladies' favorite dishes. A special Fish Fry dinner will be Feb. 21, 5 to 7 p.m.

The Presbyterian Village in Fort will celebrate Valentine's Day with a Sweetheart Banquet on the evening of Feb. 12 with a night of fun and romance for tenants and friends.

Local talent, Fussin' Feathers will entertain. A King and Queen will be chosen that morning and crowned that evening. Reservations may be made by phoning (620) 223-5550 by Feb. 9.
