Tigers reschedule for Feb. 5; Greyhounds expect to play tonight
Fort Scott High School's Southeast Kansas League basketball doubleheader against Coffeyville, scheduled for Tuesday night, has been rescheduled for Feb. 5.
Those boys' and girls' games, along with many others in southeast Kansas, were not played as scheduled Tuesday due to the hazardous travel conditions caused by Monday night's freezing ice that continued into Tuesday.
Jayhawk-Linn and Uniontown were scheduled to face each other in a non-league doubleheader at Uniontown. This was not held as Uniontown did not have school Tuesday.
Pleasanton was to play a Three Rivers League twinbill at Altoona-Midway, but that was likely to be called off after the Midway school district decided early on Monday night to cancel Tuesday's classes.
Word on the JLHS-UHS and PHS-AMHS games will be rescheduled has not been received.
Fort Scott Community College's Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division doubleheader with Highland scheduled for tonight is expected to go on as scheduled with the forecast calling for warmer temperatures this afternoon. The women's game tips off at 5 p.m. with the men set for a 7 p.m. start.
The only issue tonight may be the road conditions in northeast Kansas as the Scotties leave Highland.
Fort Scott High will play Thursday night at Parsons and Friday at Pittsburg. Both will be Southeast Kansas League doubleheaders. The Parsons twinbill was postponed by a power failure at both the new and old high school gymnasiums on Jan. 9.
By the time the Tigers play on Thursday night, they will have had the past seven days off. However, that would have been 14 days had it not been for a make-up doubleheader with Independence on January 20 and Thursday night's play.
